If you walk in with a deceased animal they see you as walking money. I am appalled about how quickly the request for payment left not just the receptionists mouth, but every staff I spoke to while I was holding the blanket wrapped animal in my arms. I found the poor thing on the side of the road, and I explained that to them, saying I didn't want someones pet forever lost or a stray left to be eaten or decay, their response was "Well if you don't pay to cremate it then WE'RE going to have to front the bill!" This place is partnered with a crematorium apperently, so let it be known your loss of your pet is just a paycheck to them. Literally made me nauseous.

My friend had recommended Hyde Park Animal Hospital. I decided to give it a chance. I really enjoyed the care that I was receiving here. Until I noticed a pattern with my visits. It seemed that they added little fees to my bill each visit. It just kept getting more and more expensive. They wouldn't take my dog's insurance either. Dr. Mintzer is really rude too. Has zero patience for the concerns that the family express. He acts like he knows everything, and that his opinion is the only right one. I suggested maybe getting a second opinion when my dog was experiencing behavior issues, and he said that every other vet would tell me the same. He acted like a second opinion was stupid and unnecessary. I got the second opinion, and a third opinion, and each of them said the opposite of him. Please! Please reconsider when bringing your animal here! They only care about the money.

On December 4th 2025 I had to bring my cat in for an emergency appointment that ended up resulting in her needing to be euthanized. Something I never imagined having to do. She came in, in very fragile condition. Dr Mintzer was very honest patient and compassionate with me, and laid all the options out on the table clearly with realistic expectations. I never believed in euthanasia, but when I asked him if he believed it was the best thing for her his answer was said with such certainty that I was able to put aside my personal feelings to make the right choice for her. Words can not express the grief, guilt, and the loss that I have felt with her passing, but they can explain how truly compassionate, knowledgeable and just all around good dr he is. I want to say thank you to Dr Mintzer and his staff for being able to see her and making a not so easy decision a little less painful and for helping her cross the rainbow bridge.
