You can tell that Dr Ness and staff really do love animals. He always takes the time to answer my questions as a first time cat owner. He’s very kind and gentle with them and gives sound medical advice. I’d rather go to a practice knowing we will see the same doctor each time so he really gets to know the animals.

Having been a client of Dr. Ness for 27 years, I never thought to leave a review until today when I checked his office hours and started reading reviews. I first met Larry in 1998 when I moved to Suffern. He was a young doctor, I was a younger customer! We have both aged gracefully over time and he has seen my children grow from infants to young adults. And, of course, he has met every one of my past and present Boxers (we are on numbers 5 & 6 now). A couple of weeks ago when my older girl had to see Dr. Ness, I found a picture in the photo album of my two dogs along with two of my children. It brought back lots of memories. While reading some of these reviews, I was surprised by even the very few that were less than 5 star. Sometimes first impressions should be taken with a grain of salt because if you think that Dr. Ness is not the most compassionate person then you are surely mistaken. I don’t know any other veterinarian who combines expertise in the field of medicine AND empathizes on a personal level. When I visit his office I feel like Larry is a member of my family, something like a big brother. When having to say ‘good bye’ to our fur babies, at times we’ve cried, sometimes we hugged too - who else does that? No other doctor that I know. For those who complain that he’s too expensive, please remember that nothing is free in this world. Dr. Ness has a state of the art facility along with an expert staff who are equally caring. Rent, utilities, salaries, insurance…the list goes on and on. While it pains me to say this, owning a pet is a luxury and the cost of care is commensurate. I sympathize with those who cannot afford proper care, but did you know that Dr. Ness works with an organization that provides financial assistance for those in need? I lived in Suffern, NY from 1998-2005, then moved to a town in NJ that’s about 25 minutes from his office. There are at least a half dozen veterinary establishments nearby but the ride to Suffern is well worth it. Unless I have no other choice, my dogs go to Airmont Animal Hospital. My biggest gripe with Larry is that he’s probably going to retire one day. The silver lining is that over the years, Dr. Ness is the only veterinarian my daughter has known and she is now headed to Boston University this fall to begin her journey towards becoming a veterinarian. I would be ecstatic if she’s even half the doctor that Larry is, but I have confidence in her as she shares similar traits with him. I’m glad I got a chance to tell the world about Dr. Ness, he’s the poster child of what a veterinarian should be.
